Faction: Defense Ministry

The Defense Ministry is an organization that is synonymous across all the Gryphon Kingdoms. The organization may vary slightly from Kingdom to Kingdom, but they all have three branches: Civil Defense Force, Foreign Defense Force, and Department of Intelligence.

The Civil Defense Force is a branch of the Defense Ministry that has posts in each of the kingdoms and their respective territories. In addition to carrying out duties normally associated with law enforcement, the CDF also provides aid and relief efforts during natural disasters/crises, serves as security detail for embassies and other government facilities, and has recently begun to start handling counter-terrorism operations against domestic agitators. While each member of the CDF is well-trained in their respective job fields, the units of the CDF credit their success rate and overall effectiveness to the level of cooperation that exists among team members.

Following recent attacks and loss of personnel, the CDF has adjusted it's posture somewhat, shifting from a reactive standpoint to a more proactive and aggressive one. The reputation of the CDF has come under fire recently in certain kingdoms due to a string of isolated incidents where "excessive force" was documented, in addition to rumors of royal families using them to eliminate potential threats and to quell opposition. As a result, there is some push for the CDF's authority to be restricted and their total size to be reduced or relocated elsewhere.
